Ingredients

Scale

Β½ cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup light brown sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large ripe bananas, mashed
Β½ cup buttermilk (or substitute with sour cream or Greek yogurt)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
ΒΌ teaspoon baking soda
Β½ teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
Optional: Β½ cup caramel bits
For Salted Caramel Sauce:
Granulated sugar
Salted butter
Heavy cream
Salt
Vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

Prepare the salted caramel sauce and let it cool.
Preheat the oven to 350℉ (177℃) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
Cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla and bananas.
Slowly mix in buttermilk.
In another bowl, sift together dry ingredients. Add to wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in chocolate chips and, optionally, caramel bits.
Pour half the batter into the loaf pan, drizzle with caramel sauce, and swirl. Repeat with remaining batter and sauce.
Bake for 50-55 minutes, checking doneness with a toothpick.
Cool on a wire rack and drizzle with additional caramel before serving.

Notes

🍬 Caramel bits can be added without melting for texture.
🍯 Store-bought caramel sauce is a convenient substitute.
🧁 Use a toothpick to avoid overbaking.
