πŸ§€ Combining creamy cheddar with tender asparagus, this quiche delivers a rich yet healthy meal option that’s easy to prepare.

  • Total Time: 1 hour 5 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

– 1 partially baked pie shell (10 or 11 inch)

– 1 tablespoon mustard

– 2 tablespoons butter

– 1 onion, finely chopped

– 1/4 cup finely chopped dill (or 1 teaspoon dried dill)

– 1 pound cooked asparagus, coarsely chopped

– 1 1/2 cups grated aged cheddar cheese

– 4 eggs

– 1 cup milk

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 1/4 teaspoon pepper

– A pinch of nutmeg

– A pinch of cayenne pepper

Instructions

1-First, preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and get your partially baked pie shell ready. Brush it with 1 tablespoon of mustard for a flavorful base, then set it aside. This step adds a tangy kick that complements the asparagus and cheese quiche nicely.

2-Next, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a pan and cook the finely chopped onion until it’s tender but not browned. This brings out a sweet flavor that pairs well with the other elements. Once done, mix in the 1/4 cup of finely chopped dill, the cooked and chopped asparagus, and 1 1/2 cups of grated aged cheddar cheese for a hearty filling.

3-Spread this mixture evenly into the pie shell to create an even layer. In a separate bowl, beat 4 eggs and add 1 cup of milk, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/4 teaspoon of pepper, a pinch of nutmeg, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Mix it all well to form a smooth custard.

4-Pour the egg mixture over the asparagus and cheese in the pie shell, making sure it’s distributed evenly. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes until the filling is just set, and let it cool for 10 minutes before serving. The total preparation and cooking time is about 1 hour and 5 minutes, giving you a tasty cheese quiche ready to enjoy.
