🍗 Enjoy a delicious and hearty Chicken Cheesesteak Skillet packed with tender chicken, flavorful peppers, and melted provolone cheese.
🧀 This recipe combines ease and richness for a satisfying meal that’s ready in just 30 minutes.

  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 tablespoons olive oil, divided

1 yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced

1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced

1 1/4 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, thinly sliced

1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika

Kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste

1 cup shredded provolone cheese

Instructions

1-Getting started: Getting started with this Chicken Cheesesteak Skillet is as easy as following a few simple steps. First, prepare your ingredients by slicing everything thinly for even cooking, which helps everything cook just right. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat to kick things off.

2-Next, add the sliced peppers and onion along with a bit of salt and pepper, then sauté until they turn tender and full of flavor. Once done, remove them to a plate so you can focus on the chicken. Add the remaining olive oil, then toss in the sliced chicken with Italian seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper, spreading it out in a single layer for that perfect brown.

3-Let the chicken brown without stirring for a couple of minutes to lock in juices.

4-Cook until it’s fully done, then mix back in the peppers and onions.

5-Top with shredded provolone cheese, cover, and let it melt for a gooey finish.

6-Serve hot, and for dietary tweaks, swap proteins or cheese as needed to keep it tasty.

Notes

🔪 Partially freeze chicken breasts for about 30 minutes before slicing to make cutting easier and safer.
🍗 For thinner slices, halve large chicken breasts lengthwise or use chicken cutlets.
🔥 Browning the chicken in a single layer without moving it enhances flavor and texture.
