Ingredients
1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup coconut (optional)
Refrigerated chocolate chip cookie dough (typically one package divided in half for crust and topping)
Instructions
1-Preheat the oven to 350Β°F. In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese, sugar, and egg until smooth, then stir in the coconut if desired.
2-In an ungreased 9- or 8-inch square pan, break up half of the cookie dough and press it evenly into the bottom to form the crust.
3-Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough layer carefully.
4-Crumble and sprinkle the remaining cookie dough over the cream cheese layer for that crunchy topping.
5-Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown and firm to the touch.
6-Cool for 30 minutes, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours until chilled.
7-Cut into 16 bars and serve.
