– 150 g dark chocolate chips (1 cup)

Instructions

1-Making Chocolate Panettone at home is a rewarding process that starts with simple steps to create that fluffy, buttery bread. Begin by scalding the milk and letting it cool to lukewarm, then mix it with the yeast, 50 g of bread flour, and 1 tablespoon of sugar to form a starter dough. Let this rise for about 30 minutes in a warm spot until it’s bubbly and active.

2-Next, in a large bowl, combine the starter dough with the eggs, the rest of the sugar, honey, rum, vanilla extract, citrus zests, remaining flour, and salt. Knead the mixture until it’s smooth and elastic, which helps develop the dough’s structure. Gradually add the softened butter, kneading it in bit by bit, then gently fold in the dark chocolate chips to keep them evenly distributed.

3-Shaping and Baking the Dough

Once the dough is ready, let it rise in a covered bowl until it doubles in size, taking about 2 to 3 hours. Shape the dough into balls and place each one into buttered individual molds like muffin pans or souffle dishes lined with parchment paper.
