– 4 pounds peeled, cored, and thinly sliced crisp apples (blend of Granny Smith, Braeburn, and Golden Delicious recommended)
– 1 cup powdered sugar (115g)
– 2 tablespoons half and half (plus more as needed)
Instructions
1-Preheat oven to 425Β°F (220Β°C).
2-Roll refrigerated pie crusts into a 17Γ12-inch rectangle, fold, and transfer to a 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan. Unfold, fit into pan, fold edges under, and decorate if desired. Chill in refrigerator.
3-Prepare topping: Mix granulated sugar, brown sugar, quick oats, flour, and salt. Cut chilled butter into the mixture until crumbly. Refrigerate.
4-Prepare filling: Whisk granulated sugar, brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Toss sliced apples with lemon juice, then coat evenly with the sugar mixture.
5-Assemble pie: Spread apple filling evenly over the chilled crust. Sprinkle crumb topping evenly over the filling.
6-Bake for 33 to 38 minutes. Tent loosely with foil during the last 10 minutes if needed to prevent over-browning. Bake until apples are tender when pierced.
7-Let pie cool until warm.
8-Optional Glaze: Whisk powdered sugar and half and half until thick but pourable. Drizzle over cooled pie.
9-Cut pie into squares and serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.
