Ingredients

– 1 cup butter, softened

– 1/4 cup sugar

– 3 tablespoons cornstarch

– 1 teaspoon maple flavoring

– 1-3/4 cups all-purpose flour

– 3/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon confectioners’ sugar

– 1/3 cup maple syrup

Instructions

1-First, beat butter, sugar, and cornstarch in a large bowl until blended. Add maple flavoring and gradually beat in flour.

2-Next, shape dough into a disk, cover, and refrigerate for 45 minutes until firm.

3-Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Roll dough to 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface. Cut into 2-3/4-inch leaf shapes with a floured cutter. Place cookies 1 inch apart on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 20 25 minutes until edges are light brown.

4-Transfer to wire racks to cool completely.

5-For the glaze, mix confectioners’ sugar and maple syrup until smooth, then spread over cooled cookies and let set. This process ensures a tender texture, and chilling the dough helps with rolling, as per the tips shared.
