🍞 Hawaiian Roll French Toast offers a delightful blend of sweet and savory flavors with soft, fluffy rolls soaked in a rich egg mixture.
🍳 This quick and easy recipe is perfect for a satisfying breakfast or brunch with minimal prep and a delicious golden crust.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients

Scale

1 (12-pack) sweet Hawaiian rolls

3 large eggs

ΒΎ cup half and half (or whole milk)

1 tablespoon vanilla extract

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

2 tablespoons brown sugar

A small pinch of salt

4 tablespoons butter (salted or unsalted)

Powdered sugar for topping

Fresh fruit for topping

Syrup for topping

Instructions

1- In a large bowl, whisk the 3 large eggs and ΒΎ cup half and half until fully combined, ensuring no visible egg whites remain.

2- Stir in 1 tablespoon vanilla extract, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, and a small pinch of salt to create a flavorful custard.

3- Use a toothpick to poke several holes in the bottom of each of the 1 (12-pack) sweet Hawaiian rolls; this helps them absorb the mixture without getting too soggy.

4- Dip a few rolls into the egg mixture, soaking for about 30 seconds, but don’t go longer to keep them from turning mushy.

5- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and melt 2 tablespoons of the 4 tablespoons butter.

6- Add the soaked rolls to the pan, cooking each side for about 30 seconds until golden brown, and turn to cook all six sides evenly.

7- If needed, cook in batches, adding the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter for each new set.

8- Serve right away with powdered sugar, fresh fruit, and syrup; adding bacon on the side makes it even better for a hearty meal.

Notes

🍴 Poke holes in rolls to enhance absorption since Hawaiian rolls are thicker than traditional bread.
⏰ Do not soak rolls longer than 30 seconds to avoid mushiness.
πŸ”₯ Use medium-low heat to prevent burning before the inside cooks through.
