🐟 This Lemon Butter Cod recipe offers a simple yet flavorful way to prepare tender, flaky cod with a luscious lemon butter sauce.
πŸ‹ It’s quick to make, packed with fresh herbs and spices, making it perfect for a nutritious and elegant weeknight meal.

  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

– 4 cod fillets (6 oz each), skinless, about 1-inch thick

– 1 tablespoon flour

– 1/2 teaspoon paprika

– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

– 1/4 teaspoon thyme

– 1/4 teaspoon oregano

– 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

– 3/4 teaspoon salt or to taste

– 3/4 teaspoon black pepper

– 5 tablespoons butter, divided into 1 tablespoon pieces

– 1 tablespoon olive oil

– 1 tablespoon minced garlic

– 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

– 1 1/2 tablespoons chicken broth

– 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

1-Gathering and Prepping: First, combine the flour, paprika, onion powder, thyme, oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a small bowl. This mix will give your cod that flavorful coating. Next, coat both sides of the cod fillets evenly with this mixture for even seasoning.

2-Cooking the Cod: 1. Heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
2. Sear the cod fillets in the skillet for about 3 to 4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through; the fish should flake easily with a fork. Transfer the fillets to serving plates.
3. Reduce the heat to medium-low and melt the remaining 4 tablespoons butter in the same skillet.
4. Add the garlic and sautΓ© briefly until fragrant and lightly golden, about 15 seconds.
5. Remove the skillet from the heat and carefully stir in the chicken broth and lemon juice; the mixture will steam a bit.
6. Pour the lemon butter sauce over the cod fillets and garnish with the chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

❄️ Thaw frozen cod in the refrigerator overnight for best texture.
🧻 Pat cod dry before coating to help the flour stick and brown nicely.
πŸ”₯ Avoid overcooking; cook until cod flakes easily and is opaque for tender fish.
