– 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
– 1/2 cup (100g) packed light-brown sugar
– 1/2 cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
– 1/8 teaspoon salt
– 3/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
– Sea salt flakes (optional)
Instructions
1-Butter an 8 by 8-inch baking dish to prepare it for the caramel mixture.
2-Place the unsalted butter pieces in a large microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl and microwave until melted.
3-Add the light corn syrup, granulated sugar, packed light-brown sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and salt; whisk the mixture well.
4-Return the bowl to the microwave and cook on high power for 6 to 7 minutes.
5-Carefully remove the bowl using hot pads and stir in the vanilla extract.
6-Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with sea salt flakes, if desired.
7-Refrigerate until set, about 20 to 30 minutes.
8-Cut into rectangular pieces and wrap in wax paper for storage or serving.
