Ingredients
Vanilla wafers (about 2 cups, finely crushed)
Pecans (1 cup, finely chopped)
Confectioners’ sugar (1 cup, plus extra for coating)
Unsweetened cocoa powder (2 tablespoons, plus extra for coating)
Light corn syrup (2 tablespoons)
Bourbon (1/4 cup, high-quality recommended)
Instructions
1. Gather all ingredients, including vanilla wafers, pecans, confectioners’ sugar, cocoa powder, corn syrup, and bourbon.
2. Use a food processor to grind the vanilla wafers and pecans into a fine crumb texture.
3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed wafers, ground pecans, cocoa powder, and confectioners’ sugar.
4. Add corn syrup and bourbon to the dry mixture, stirring until well combined into a dough-like consistency.
5. If the mixture is too sticky, refrigerate for about 30 minutes to make it easier to handle.
6. Scoop small portions of the dough and roll them into balls, approximately 1 inch in diameter.
7. Coat each ball in confectioners’ sugar, cocoa powder, or crushed nuts, depending on preference.
8. Place the finished bourbon balls on a tray lined with parchment paper.
9. Store the bourbon balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for at least 24 hours to enhance flavor.
10. Serve chilled or at room temperature for holiday parties, gifting, or festive celebrations.
Notes
Use high-quality bourbon for the best flavor, as it intensifies over time.
Chill the mixture before shaping to make handling easier and reduce stickiness.
Try rolling the balls in different coatings like cocoa powder, confectioners’ sugar, or crushed nuts for variety.
