Ingredients
– 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry
– 1 cup of finely chopped fresh spinach
– 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
– 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1 beaten egg
– 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder
– 1/2 teaspoon of onion powder
– salt to taste
– black pepper to taste
Instructions
1-Preheat the oven to 400Β°F (200Β°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This sets up for even baking and easy cleanup.
2-Prepare the surface: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the puff pastry to smooth it and slightly enlarge it. Keep it cold for maximum flakiness.
3-Mix the filling: In a bowl, combine the finely chopped spinach, grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly mixed.
4-Assemble: Spread the filling over half the pastry. Fold the other half over, seal the edges gently, and cut into 1-inch wide strips.
5-Twist and place: Twist each strip several times and arrange on the baking sheet, leaving space between for air flow.
6-Egg wash: Brush with the beaten egg for that irresistible golden glaze.
7-Bake: For 15 to 20 minutes until puffy, crisp, golden brown, with melted cheese oozing. Cool for 3 to 4 minutes before serving warm.
Notes
βοΈ Keep puff pastry cold before use for optimal texture.
π§ Use freshly grated Parmesan for stronger cheese flavor.
π§ Chill twisted strips if they feel sticky before baking to keep shape.
β¨ Optionally sprinkle sesame seeds or chili flakes for extra crunch or mild heat.
β οΈ Serve immediately to maintain crispness.
