🥟 This Pierogi Casserole combines savory fillings with a creamy sauce, offering a hearty and comforting meal.
🧀 Enjoy the delightful contrast of tender pierogies topped with a crispy, melted cheddar cheese crust for a satisfying dinner option.

  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

– 16 ounces frozen potato pierogies

– 14 ounces kielbasa sausage, sliced

– 1/2 cup chicken broth

– 1/2 cup sour cream

– 4 ounces cream cheese, softened

– 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

– 3 green onions, sliced

– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar preferred for better flavor)

Instructions

1-First: set your oven to 375°F and grease a 9 x 13 inch casserole pan. Lay out the 16 ounces of frozen potato pierogies and 14 ounces of sliced kielbasa sausage in the pan. This creates a solid base for the flavors to blend.

2-Next: in a bowl, mix the 4 ounces of softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup sour cream, 1/2 cup chicken broth, 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, and half of the 3 sliced green onions. Pour this creamy mixture over the pierogies and sausage for that rich sauce.

3-Then: cover the pan with foil and bake for 30 minutes. After that, take off the foil, add the 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese on top, and bake uncovered for another 10 minutes until the cheese melts perfectly.

4-Finally: garnish with the remaining sliced green onions before serving. Let it cool a bit so it’s easy to handle. If you’re looking for more casserole ideas, check out our cheeseburger casserole recipe for another family favorite.

Notes

🌭 Substitute kielbasa with other fully-cooked smoked sausages like turkey or chicken sausage.
🧀 Shred cheddar cheese from a block for better melting and richer flavor.
🥦 Add garlic powder, oregano, or vegetables like green beans for more flavor and variety.
