🍖 Enjoy tender, fall-off-the-bone pork ribs infused with rich barbecue flavors, perfect for any gathering.
🔥 This oven-baked method delivers juicy, flavorful ribs without the need for a grill or smoker.

  • Total Time: 2 hours 55 minutes
  • Yield: 4 to 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 to 5 lbs St. Louis-style pork spare ribs (2 racks)

2 teaspoons kosher salt

18 ounces barbecue sauce (about 1.75 cups, either store-bought or homemade)

Instructions

1-Start your pork spare ribs adventure by following these clear steps. Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C) and pat the ribs dry if they’re wet for even seasoning. Then, season generously with kosher salt on the meatier side and cut the ribs into individual pieces by slicing between the bones.

2-Next, place the ribs on a rimmed half sheet pan, pour about one cup of the barbecue sauce over them, and toss to coat evenly. Arrange the ribs meaty side up, cover tightly with foil, and bake for 1 hour and 45 minutes. This method ensures your pork spare ribs come out tender and full of flavor.

3-After that, remove the foil and baste the ribs with half of the remaining sauce, about one-third cup. Increase the oven temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake uncovered for 30 minutes to let the flavors deepen. Finally, baste again with the last portion of sauce and bake for another 20 to 30 minutes until the sauce caramelizes, making the ribs sticky but not too wet.

4-The total preparation time is about 2 hours and 55 minutes, with 10 minutes for prep and 2 hours and 45 minutes for cooking. Keep an eye on the ribs to avoid overcooking, as this maintains the moisture in your bbq pork ribs.

Notes

🍴 Use St. Louis-style ribs for the best meat-to-bone ratio; you can substitute baby back ribs with slight cooking time changes.
🔪 Remove the membrane from the back of ribs for improved tenderness.
⚠️ Watch barbecue sauce sugar content carefully during baking to prevent burning.
