– 1 tablespoon olive oil

– Salt and pepper to taste

– 2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed (about 450 grams)

– 3 heaping tablespoons whole grain mustard or any mustard (omit additional honey if using honey mustard)

– 2 tablespoons honey, plus extra for drizzling

– 170 grams (6 oz) shredded smoked Gouda or aged cheddar cheese

– 1 egg, beaten for egg wash

Instructions

1-First, preheat the oven to 375°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to get started on these puff pastry asparagus ham wraps cheese. Toss the asparagus with 1 tablespoon olive oil, salt, and pepper for a quick flavor boost. On a floured surface, roll out the 2 sheets of thawed puff pastry and cut them into 8 squares to prepare the base.

2-Building the Wraps: Next, spread 1-2 teaspoons of the honey mustard mixture on each puff pastry square to add that tangy sweetness. Layer 1-2 slices of the 125 grams prosciutto or ham on top, then place about 4 asparagus spears over it followed by a sprinkle of the 170 grams shredded smoked Gouda or cheddar cheese. Fold two corners of the pastry to enclose the filling, creating neat bundles ready for the oven.

3-Once assembled, brush each wrap with the beaten egg for a golden finish and sprinkle on everything bagel seasoning if you like a bit of extra crunch. Place the bundles on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they’re spaced out. Bake for 20-25 minutes until they’re puffed up and golden brown, then serve hot with a drizzle of extra honey or mustard for that final touch.
