πŸ₯© This Slow Cooker Tri Tip recipe yields tender, flavorful beef that’s perfect for easy, hands-off cooking.
🍞 Ideal for hearty sandwiches or family dinners, the slow cooking method ensures juicy meat that melts in your mouth.

  • Total Time: 6 hours 10 minutes
  • Yield: 6 servings

Ingredients

– 3 lb tri tip roast

– 1 tsp salt

– 1/2 tsp pepper

– 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves

– 1/2 tsp dried rosemary

– 2 tsp minced garlic

– 2 cups beef broth

– 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce

– 6 slices provolone cheese

– 6 buns

Instructions

1-Getting started with this slow cooked beef loin tri tip roast is straightforward and fun. Begin by mixing the seasonings together. Combine 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp pepper, 1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves, 1/2 tsp dried rosemary, and 2 tsp minced garlic in a small bowl.

2-Next, rub this mixture evenly over the 3 lb tri tip roast to coat it well. Place the seasoned roast rub side up into a 6-quart slow cooker. Carefully pour 2 cups beef broth and 2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce around the sides of the roast, making sure not to wash off the rub.

3-Cover the slow cooker and let it cook on low for 6 to 7 hours until the meat is tender and easy to pull apart with a fork. Once done, remove the roast and shred or slice it as you like. For a tasty twist, strain the cooking liquid to use as au jus. If you’re making sandwiches, butter and toast the 6 buns, fill them with the shredded meat, add a slice of provolone cheese on top, and broil until the cheese melts. Serve with the au jus for dipping, and enjoy your meal that takes about 6 hours and 10 minutes total, with just 10 minutes of prep time.

Notes

⏲️ Cooking beef on low in the slow cooker yields the best tenderness; high setting is quicker but less tender.
πŸ”₯ Searing the meat before slow cooking enhances flavor but is optional.
πŸ₯„ Use the slow cooker liquid to make gravy by thickening it with a roux of butter and flour.
