Ingredients
– 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
– 1/4 cup spicy brown mustard
– 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
– 1 (12-ounce) can of soda
– 1 (5- to 7-pound) fully cooked bone-in ham
– 20 whole cloves
Instructions
1-In a small saucepan, heat the brown sugar, mustard, vinegar, and 1/2 cup soda until the sugar melts and the mixture bubbles. Then, reduce the heat and simmer it for 7 to 8 minutes until it thickens into a glossy glaze.
2-Pour the remaining soda into a 6-quart slow cooker, stud the ham with the 20 whole cloves in several spots, and place the ham inside. Brush it with 1/4 cup of the glaze and save the rest for later cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours until itβs hot all the way through.
3-A few minutes before the ham is done, reheat the leftover glaze for about 3 minutes. Take the ham out of the slow cooker, brush it with the remaining glaze, then carve and serve it warm.
Notes
π Choose a fully cooked, bone-in ham that is not spiral cut to keep meat juicy.
β° Cook on low for 5 to 6 hours to prevent drying and ensure even heating.
π₯€ Use soda in the slow cooker liquid to add sweetness and maintain moisture.
