Ingredients
– 1 ½ heaping cups kosher or coarse sea salt
– ¼ cup hot sauce
Instructions
1-First, preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. This step sets the stage for drying out the mixture perfectly.
2-Quickly combine the salt and hot sauce in a mixing bowl until fully mixed. Make sure it’s evenly distributed for the best results.
3-Spread the mixture evenly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, using a spoon to smooth it out.
4-Place the baking sheet in the oven and immediately lower the temperature to 200 degrees. Bake for 10 minutes, stirring the salt halfway through to prevent clumping.
5-After baking, turn off the oven and leave the salt inside overnight with the door closed. Once fully dried, pulse the salt in a food processor to break up any clumps.
6-Finally, store the finished salt in a mason jar or similar container for use or gifting. The preparation time is about 5 minutes for prep, 10 minutes for cooking, and 8 hours for drying, totaling around 15 minutes of active work.
Notes
🔥 Mix salt and hot sauce quickly and firmly for even flavor distribution.
⏳ Stir the salt halfway through baking and allow it to dry overnight for best texture.
⚖️ Use less of wetter or thinner ingredients when experimenting with different flavor variations.
