Instructions

1-First, prepare the mashed sweet potatoes by cooking and mashing them until smooth, then set them aside to cool. This step ensures they blend well without affecting the yeast.

2-Next, in a small bowl, activate the yeast by dissolving it in warm milk with a pinch of sugar, letting it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy to guarantee a good rise.

3-In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and salt, then add the mashed sweet potatoes, melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix thoroughly until a soft dough forms, and knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4-Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size. After rising, roll out the dough into a rectangle and spread the softened butter evenly, then sprinkle the brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over the surface. Carefully roll the dough tightly from the long edge, cut into even slices about 1.5 inches thick, and arrange on a greased baking pan.

5-Let the rolls rise again for 30-45 minutes until puffy, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C), and bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown. Once baked, spread the icing made from cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, maple flavor, and vanilla over the warm rolls. Adaptations for dietary needs can be made at ingredient substitution stages, allowing creative flexibility while preserving the deliciousness.

Notes

🌡️ Use room temperature ingredients to prevent separation and ensure smooth dough and icing.
🧬 Use fresh yeast and milk warmed to about 110°F to activate yeast properly.
⏰ Proof dough twice for best texture: double in size before shaping and puffiness after shaping.
