Ingredients
– 2 slices sourdough bread
– 3 slices oven roasted turkey breast (flavored options like cracked pepper or honey roasted work too)
– 2 slices Havarti cheese
– 1 small apple, thinly sliced
– Β½ cup arugula
– 2 tablespoons dill pickle mustard (or regular mustard as alternative)
– 1 tablespoon light mayonnaise (optional)
– 6-8 dill pickle coins
– 6-8 dill pickle potato chips (optional for extra crunch)
– Fresh lemon juice, salt, and pepper for seasoning arugula (optional)
Instructions
1-First Step: Gather all ingredients and prepare your workspace by washing and thinly slicing the apple. If using substitutions, ensure they are ready to use.
2-Second Step: Preheat a skillet or grill pan over medium heat. Spread a thin layer of butter on one side of each bread slice.
3-Third Step: Assemble the sandwich by layering turkey breast, Havarti cheese, and apple slices on the unbuttered side of two bread slices. Spread dill pickle mustard on the other slices for that extra zing.
4-Fourth Step: Close the sandwiches with the buttered sides facing out. Place the sandwiches on the heated skillet.
5-Fifth Step: Cook each side for 3-4 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and cheese is melted. Adjust heat as needed to prevent burning.
6-Sixth Step: Remove from heat, let cool slightly, then slice sandwiches diagonally.
7-Final Step: Serve warm with optional side salad or chips. For dietary adaptations, use gluten-free bread or vegan substitutes and adjust cooking times slightly.
Notes
π΄ Use freshly sliced apples to maintain crispness and flavor.
π§ Havarti cheese melts slightly from the warmth of the toasted bread for great texture.
π₯ Dill pickle chips add a fun crunch and extra tang, but can be omitted for a softer bite.
