Ingredients
– 8 tablespoons salted butter (1 stick), melted
– 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
– 1/4 cup white sugar
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– 1 egg
– 1 1/2 cups white or golden whole wheat flour
– 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
– 1/4 teaspoon salt
– 1/2 to 2/3 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
1-Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, whisk or mix melted butter with both sugars until combined.
2-Add vanilla extract and egg: Add vanilla extract and egg, mixing until just combined.
3-Whisk dry ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt.
4-Combine wet and dry ingredients: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix with a wooden spoon until just combined to avoid over mixing.
5-Fold in chocolate chips: Fold in the chocolate chips.
6-Line cookie sheet and scoop dough: Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper and scoop 12 equal portions of dough onto it.
7-Bake and cool: Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the tops are soft and edges start to turn golden brown. Allow cookies to cool for at least 15 to 20 minutes before serving.
Notes
πΎ Use white or golden whole wheat flour for softer cookies.
β° Avoid over baking to maintain a soft texture; cookies firm up as they cool.
π§ Use parchment paper or silicone baking mats to prevent sticking and easy cleanup.
